Hi everyone!
Hope your weekend is going well!
When I listened to meet Asclepius I was not interested. I actually fell asleep and was very
distracted from the beginning voice of the man. When it came to actual
meditation part I got very relaxed but to relaxed and as mentioned fell
asleep. I tried it the
second time another day and just didn’t like it for someone reason.
“One
cannot lead another where one has not gone himself” is very powerful sounding
to me. When I first read
this I completely agreed with it because I believe we can’t know what someone
is experiencing unless we were
them. This would apply to a
health and wellness professional because they should give advice on what they
have actually experienced and if they haven’t they need to clarify that so that
person they are helping is aware that this person didn’t go through the same
things I did an doesn’t have an idea accept maybe hearing something similar
from someone else.
I do
believe that as a health and wellness professional we should be developing our
health in psychological, physical and spiritual selves because we need to be at
our best when we are trying to help others be their best, we are the examples.
I
can implement psychological and spiritual growth in my personal life by taking
meditation as more of a necessary activity instead of putting it on the back
burner, and getting physically healthy by starting a new physical activity
exercise.
Victoria,
ReplyDeleteI know what you feel I stayed awake for mine but there were parts where I was bored and the parts of the actual meditation I enjoyed. I have started to do meditation on every day if i can and while doing homework assignments I turn on my pandora and pick one of meditation channels as I am typing it helps me focus on what is on hand.
Hi Victoria,
ReplyDeleteI don’t think anyone is really interested in the guy, it’s got to be his tone- just boring. I feel what you’re saying about trying to help others when you have not experienced what they have. That’s why it is important to stay informed. Read up on different topics and get information directly from people who have experienced situations and circumstances first hand. You can gain insight that could potentially help you to empathize and help someone in the future. I think psychological and spiritual growth is very important. Personally I start to feel a little off when I fall out of my usual routine and habits. What works best for me is to get a good night’s rest which means not to go to sleep worrying or with a busy mind. Then I must allow myself to fully wake up before jumping out of bed and I always say a short prayer. Also I read something edifying from the bible or a book before I get my day started. When I rush and skip these things too many days in a row my days don’t seem to go as well.
Victoria,
ReplyDeleteI too found that I could not related well to the meditation and it was distracting listening to the man's voice, it was as if he was just talking to me. How can you find relaxation in that? We as healthcare professionals owe our clients the best of us and we should work on achieving this so it will help us be open minded. When working in the health professions there are many obstacles that we will face at some point, remaining positive and working towards integral health will help us fare better in the long run.
