Hi all!!

The Universal Loving Kindness meditation exercise was definitely interesting.  It is basically saying something positive that have to do with love, kindness, freedom etc. for 10 minutes.  This meditation practice helps us focus and switch out minds to be more powerful in love and kindness towards others.

The integral assessment is about taking ourselves and making somewhat more vulnerable in my opinion because we are taking a part at which we basically struggle or dislike about ourselves and ten focusing on it and making them part of our minds in order to focus on changing it.
I believe mine would be filled with different things, but the first part I would like to work on and struggle with is patience.  I tend to be anxious and fidgety when I need to get something done, instead of just doing it in its own time and do the best I can.

  1. Hello Victoria,

I thought the integral assessment was a nice tool to see where our weaknesses and strengths are mentally and physically. I found that I have many things to work on. Lol I would love to diet and exercise but for now I have to get mentally fit first. I have a lot going on in my life. I have 2 children and 2 jobs and I go to Kaplan Full time. It's my last year!!! When I graduate I want to find one good full time job and then I will put my effort into losing some weight. I know that I can't do it right now because mentally I have too much going on. So I have to take it one thing at a time. Good post! Have a great day.

  2. Victoria,

great post. I am glad you benefited from the exercise and the assessment. Sometimes it is hard to be objective when it comes to ourselves. Being honest and truthful with ourselves is a great lesson and it contributes to our emotional maturity. I believe that focusing on the goals we set to ourselves and being realistic while we set these goals is the key. Patience didn't use to be my strong suit either. It took me years of training my mind to relax and not fidget over every little detail was very hard. I am proud to say that I've come a long way. And you can too. Just give it time.

  3. Hi Victoria,

I really enjoyed the integral assessment to really make me think and focus on aspects of myself that I need to improve upon. Being honest with yourself isn't always easy but is definitely a step needed in becoming a more complete and better version of yourself. Great post!!

  4. Victoria,
Great post! I am glad that you enjoyed the loving-kindness meditation exercise. I enjoyed that we were focusing on the repetition of positive thoughts, as I think telling yourself something that is positive over and over will help you to feel more positive and optimistic. I like how you focused on the integral assessment making us vulnerable. What a great way to put it! Focusing on the negative things about ourselves can always be challenging, but isn't this necessary for change? If you don't think about the things that need improved upon or changed then most likely improvement and/or change will not occur. Hope you're having a great week so far!

  5. I really enjoyed this exercise as well Victoria. I already have a big heart and love doing things for others. To learn about a deeper kind of loving kindness lets me know that it really is an important aspect of life. I decided that I need to work on psychospiritual and biological flourishing. It sounds as though your focus would be psychospiritual as well I think. That’s anything dealing with emotions so I’m sure patience falls in that category. Good luck on your journey and with reaching these personal goals.
